Travelling Around the Island
Walking
Lismore is a small island. It is just 19 kilometres long and 2.5 kilometres wide at its widest point. The main road is single track and leads from the North to the South of the island. There are many cross country walking trails with spectacular wild scenery. Please be aware that Lismore is a farming island and most tracks go through farm land with livestock. Please keep dogs on a lead at all times, even whilst walking on the main road. Please leave any gates as you find them (open or closed), take any rubbish with you and be respectful of farm animals, wildlife, flowers, trees and seashore animals and plants.

Car & Campervan info
You can bring your car over on the Oban car ferry. Book well in advance as summers can be busy. The island has only two spaces for Campervans. All roads on Lismore are single track and there are no suitable turning places for larger buses or campervans. For more info on vehicle accessibility contact Explore Lismore on 07490416255.
Camping and Motorhomes
There is only one site on the island for campervans and that is Lismore Bunkhouse and Campsite. They can be contacted for information and booking via their Facebook Page or go to the accommodation section. The island has no facilities to dispose of waste or chemical toilets. Because of the single track roads and limited parking facilities even for residents, taking campervans over to the island without a booking at the bunkhouse is not encouraged.
When taking your car over, please do not drive on pasture, it is all too easy to leave ruts or get stuck in ground that remains soft long after it has last rained. If parking near the sea, be aware of tides!
Toilets
There are public toilets at the ferry terminals at Achnacroish and Point. Both of these use septic tanks and so are NOT suitable for emptying chemical toilets.
Water
There is no mains water on Lismore, all houses are supplied from springs, wells or bore holes. There are no public drinking water taps on the island. Bottled water can be purchased in the shop but you would be well advised to bring all the water you will need for your visit.
Rubbish
There is a bottle bank at the Achnacroish ferry terminal, but there are no other facilities for the disposal of rubbish. Please be prepared to take all your rubbish away with you and dispose of it on the mainland.
Fuel
There is no fuel station on Lismore so make sure you have enough for your visit.
